What does work mean and do to people? Provides a critical review of a contemporary book that investigates five key themes of/about work: work and time; the space workers occupy; the impact of work on our lives; the sense of purpose that motivates workers; and the people we work for, in all senses of the term. Highlights how work can, inter alia, establish dignity, build respect, enhance communities and enrich lives. The book presents a novel vision of employment that is worker-centered.
