Abstract
Lacustrine diatomites are intercalated with beach sands, organic marsh soils and colluvial deposits. Such a sequence reflects fluctuations in lake level and changes in the relative importance of lacustrine and terrestrial processes within the basin. The examination of these sections in terms of sediment source environment provides one means of evaluating the relative importance of specific factors, such as climatic change or the impact of man, in causing the fluctuations recorded by the deposits.-from English summary
