Abstract
This project aims to explore the impact of capital account opening on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in terms of their access to finance, employment, wage growth and productivity. SMEs account for over 97 per cent of all enterprises and employ over half of the workforce across APEC economies. A firm level empirical study of the kind proposed will provide powerful evidence on the effects of capital account liberalization policies on SMEs who are protagonists in the job-creation process.
