    Abstract

This chapter guides the therapist on the processes needed to complete a case formulation and treatment plan in children or adolescents who present with anxiety or depression. A particular focus is given to progression from nomothetic to idiographic representations of theoretical models, that also account for contextual influences and strengths that may impact on providing treatment to an individual client and family. Issues related to selecting, sequencing and dosing appropriate specific CBT techniques, communicating and collaborating with clients during early therapy sessions, processes for ongoing assessment and review of the formulation and treatment plan, and terminating treatment are discussed.
