Abstract

The catalytic hydropyrolysis of coal under fast heating conditions has been investigated using a small fluidized-bed reactor containing catalyst as the fluid-bed medium. Results show that reactions between H//2 and organic fragments, released during coal pyrolysis, can be promoted at 500 degree C at atmospheric pressure and a gas residence time of less than 1 s using nickel/molybdenum (Ni/Mo), cobalt/molybdenum (Co/Mo) or iron ore catalysts.
