Abstract
It is shown analytically that, as modulation frequencies commensurate with the external cavity mode separation, decoupling can occur between laser diodes and phase-modulators located in external cavities. This effect may be applicable to achieving optical isolation of laser diodes and can affect the mode suppression phenomena in external cavity diode lasers.
