Abstract
This article introduces “celebrity interpreters” located on the other side of the globe – South Korea. “Celebrity interpreters” refer to interpreters who have achieved a
celebrity status thanks to their excellent language skills. This group of interpreters
constantly appears on Korean media as language masters, career mentors and
successful individuals. Many of those interpreters have published books about
foreign language learning, and some interpreters have written autobiographies in
which they shared their language learning journeys, interpreting careers and tips on
language mastery. Those who have aesthetics have even modelled in advertising
including cosmetics and food products.
