Circularly polarized F-shaped slot microstrip antenna with wide beamwidth

A new aperture-coupled circularly polarized microstrip antenna with F-shaped slot is proposed for wide beamwidth. The F-shaped slot is embedded at centre of the square microstrip patch on thin dielectric substrate and mounted on thick foam layer. A single aperture-coupled feed is placed at centre of the patch radiator with F-shaped slot to get the circular polarization (CP) operation. The measured performance of the proposed antenna is presented. The 3dB AR bandwidth of 3.2% (2.17-2.24 GHz) with 5.62% (2.10-2.35 GHz) 10 dB return loss bandwidth is achieved.
