Abstract
The climatic effects of tropical deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon region have been simulated using the GISS GCM. Results from this simulation show a significant decrease in precipitation and a less obvious temperature increase for the Amazon region along with considerable modifications in the local hydrology. Regional scale effects are minor and the only global perturbation is as a result of the small addition of CO2. -from STAR, 21(4), 1983
