Abstract

A new dispersion model for the composite/suspended substrate microstrip line is reported. The model has an average accuracy < 1.5% against SDA for 0.6 ≤ (w/h) ≤ 10, (1/3) ≤ (h2/h1) ≤ 19, (εr2r1) ≤ 4, εr2 ≤ 13, and f·h ≤ 4 GHz·cm. For the suspended substrate in this range, the model has a maximum deviation < 1.7% when 6 ≤ f·h ≤ 1.8 GHz·cm for corresponding 2.2 ≤ εr2 ≤ 13. For εr1 > εr2, 0.01 ≤ (h2/h1) ≤ 0.05, εr1 ≤ 13 deviation is < 2% for f·h ≤ 2.8 GHz·cm and < 3.2% for f·h ≤ 4 GHz·cm.
