Comparison study of femtosecond direct-written monolithic waveguide lasers in Yb-doped silicate and phosphate glass

Abstract

The waveguide lasers fabricated in Yb-doped phosphate and silicate using femtosecond laser direct-write technique were compared. The output power and threshold was similar. However, the differential mechanism of refractive index change can influence their performance over time.
