Computer modeling of electrical breakdown in a pulsed dielectric barrier discharge in xenon

Abstract

The computer modeling of electrical breakdown in pulsed dielectric barrier discharge in xenon was presented. The computer modeling was used to simulate the spatial-temporal evolution of the homogenous plasma during the electrical breakdown phase. Results showed that the breakdown coincided with the development of a streamer-like ionization wavefront propagating toward the cathode at ∼ 105 m.s-1.
