Conceptualisation landscapes: overview of global gender and sexuality constructions

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

    Abstract

Diverse gender and sexuality (G&S) identity constructions exist around the world which are sometimes drawn from dominant Western globalising discourses, and sometimes contextually specific. Teachers want to understand the different sexuality and gender constructions available and often rely on researchers to supply this information. This chapter encourages researchers and educators to globalise the landscape of G&S conceptualisations, use reliable research and avoid unreliable sources. It provides overviews of contextually specific identities related to gender, sexuality and sex characteristic variations including LGBTIs. It then explores bullying data related to those identities across multiple contexts based on literature and research reports.
