Abstract
Monitoring wells are windows for better understanding of groundwater quality. It is to build monitoring wells in a scientific way the key that truly reveals groundwater quality. Due to the differences in geological backgrounds, topography, geomorphology, and hydrogeological conditions, the requirements for construction of groundwater monitoring wells karst areas and non-karst areas are also different. In this paper, a typical case for construction of groundwater monitoring wells in karst areas is studied, aiming to analyze the distribution of monitoring wells, to identify the problems and difficulties during design and construction, and to explore the approaches for construction of monitoring wells. Some effective suggestions and technical guidance for construction of groundwater monitoring wells in karst areas are presented.
