Abstract
We report a first demonstration and characterization of a 289.9 nm continuouswave (cw) Ce:LiCAF laser pumped by a cw 266 nm laser. This direct-UV laser has the potential to be tuned from 285-315 nm, and to generate few-fs pulses.
