    Abstract

We characterize nonlinear conversion in Yb: YAB and demonstrate a simple nondestructive technique for measuring crystal quality. Imaging the nonlinear conversion onto a CCD camera we observe phase matching characteristics similar to that of quasi-phase-matched crystals.
