    Abstract

From version 1.6, the pdfx package has been adapted to changes in LaTeX made in 2018, in regards to input encodings, and to the newly established hosting of Color Profiles for TeXLive due to licensing constraints. Other additions include support for language tags for the PDF overall and for individual Metadata field elements, as well as
extending the range of Metadata fields supported.

With version 1.6.3, babel-supported languages using UTF-8 encoding should now work properly. More useful CMap files for text-extraction are being produced from glyph names and use of combining accents, being placed after the base glyph. The new \pdfomitcharset primitive (added in 2019) is supported, now enabling valid PDF/A-2 and PDF/A-3 documents to be produced whatever fonts are being used.
