Abstract
Cyber is the connective tissue through critical state, economic, social and strategic systems. While cyber security was once exclusively a technical domain, the increasing sophistication and severity of cyber attacks has elevated it on the national security and popular agenda. In the wake of high profile attacks against state agencies, industries and critical infrastructure such as hospitals and utilities, cyber attacks now consistently rank in the top 5 threat in global surveys. This chapter examines the evolution of cyber security during the COVID-19 pandemic and its enduring national security implications.
