Abstract
The paper focuses on research approaches and methods employed in the study of the ancient landscape of Constanciacus, a Medieval settlement located in the Northern Lagoon of Venice, not far form the islands of Burano and Torcello. Nowadays only two emerged strips survive of the ancient site: the abandoned islands of S. Ariano and La Cura. The contribution illustrates topographic details of the natural and human landscape of Constanciacus. Data and information presented are the results of recent archaeological investigation (surface and underwater survey, artefact analysis) combined with archive research and remote sensing applications (rs). Particular emphasis is given to the interaction of collected data within a same Geographical Information System (gis) platform, which allows a successful integration of information of very diverse nature and typology.
