Abstract

The first demonstration of a short-wavelength laser driven within a gas-filled capillary discharge waveguide is presented. This is the first time the collisionally excited optical-field-ionization (OFI) laser is driven in any waveguide. This paper presents spectra demonstating short-wavelength lasing, measurements of the transmission of the pump laser pulse through the waveguide, and simulations that show that the lasant ion stage is generated over essentially the whole length of the plasma channel.
