Abstract

Consumer electronics devices are rapidly evolving in terms of both hardware and software. However, computing resources in those devices are not fully used in most of the time. We suggest constructing a home cloud in order to exploit unused computing resources in various devices at home to deliver more powerful and novel functionalities to users. In this paper, we examine what problems occur in the home cloud consisting of home appliances, propose solutions of the problems and evaluate performance of our home cloud computing framework implemented in python. The experimental results show that the proposed framework effectively exploits unused computing resources in home appliances.
