Designing a double integral sliding mode controller for battery storage and wind - based DC microgrids with ANN-MPPT

Abstract

A double integral sliding mode control (DISMC) scheme has been proposed in this paper to ensure the regulation of the DC-bus voltage. The proposed DCMG consists of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG)-based wind farm along with a battery energy storage systems (BESSs) to improve the sustainability. An artificial neural network (ANN) is used to extract maximum power from PMSG unit. The proposed control architecture assures the optimal power sharing among the DCMG's components by controlling the power converters associated with it. The entire stability of the system has also been guaranteed by employing this proposed controller. Furthermore, the resilience of the proposed control scheme is proven via the control Lyapunov theory. Finally, the performance of the suggested DISMC approach is contrasted with an existing sliding mode controller (ESMC) focusing on tracking efficiency of DC-bus voltage, settling time, and overshoot through Matlab/Simulink simulations. The processor-in-the-loop (PIL) is utilized to validate the practical deployment of the proposed control technique.
