Designing of a lowpass filter with a wide stopband and high attenuation level

Abstract

This paper presents a compact lowpass filter (LPF) with sharp response and a latge bandwidth stopband for utilizing in modern telecommunication applications. A modified third-order circuit has been used as a main resonator and some stubs as a harmonic suppression structure and creating wide stopband have been utilized. The-3dB cut-off and transition frequencies are 2.37 GHz and 3.52 GHz, respectively, so the response of presented LPF is sharp. The proposed LPF has a wide stopband bandwidth of about 16GHz (from 3.15 to 19.24GHz). The size of the presented LPF is compact and equal to 32.4mm × 14.4mm (0.53λg × 0.23λg). According to the results, the proposed LPF illustrates a suitable performance for using in state-of-the-art communication circuits and systems.
