    Abstract

The present study investigates which factors influence PASCH (Initiative "Schools: Partners for the Future", Foreign Ministery of Germany) alumni's relationship to Germany. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey and group interviews were conducted with PASCH alumni from Bulgaria, Egypt and Brazil. In addition, experts from the respective country contexts were interviewed. According to the results, central factors for a sustainable connection to Germany are individual PASCH activities and the role of the teachers or the school contextual conditions. For AKBP (Foreign Cultural Policy of the Federal Republic of Germany), this means strengthening teachers, expanding alumni networks and activities, and learning to understand the individual country-specific contexts for the success of the PASCH initiative.
