Abstract

Whatever educational situation is to be evaluated, the teacher or researcher is faced with the initial problem of deciding on the type and scope of the evaluation and the techniques to be employed. This paper discusses these questions in relation to a study which aims to investigate the effects of introducing a multi-media independent learning package into a conventional university environment, and to do this by looking at one second level half-credit Open University course being presented as part of the second year undergraduate degree programme in the Department of Electrical Engineering Science at the University of Essex.
