Abstract

This paper presents a new time-frequency approach for estimating the Doppler spread of the received signal at the mobile unit antenna in a typical micro-cellular system with non-isotropic scattering. The proposed method uses the ambiguity function of the received signal at the mobile unit antenna. The proposed estimator is simple and shown to be unbiased when the scattering distribution is non-isotropic.
