Abstract
A periodic surface, consisting of a square, rectangular lattice containing metal patches in the unit cell, sandwiched between two dielectric materials and two confining metal planes is considered. The patches are connected to the ground plane by several vias. Small metallic objects are inserted in the dielectric layer above the patches in order to modify the positions in the frequency domain of the electromagnetic band-gaps revealed by the dispersion diagram. The considered structure has applications in filtering and noise mitigation in high-speed circuits.
