Abstract

Economic and Trade Sanctions (sanctions) are punitive or coercive measures (‘criminal justice light’) that can be imposed with limited oversight and accountability, levelled by one or many nation states against another nation state or its nationals. Sanctions can be economic or trade focused — either prohibiting or restricting particular economic activities or trade related activities with specified counterparties.
