Abstract

In this chapter, we explore the physical activity and sports participation data that is prevailing across Australia, New Zealand, and the broader Pacific Island Nation States. It also includes a synopsis of the relevant policy and social sports structures within these nations. Beyond policy and sports structures, this chapter details some recent education innovations and projects being pursued across the Western Pacific region with regard to increasing and improving sports participation and sports experience. Finally, this chapter concludes with a commentary on how the concept of Physical Literacy is being used as an educative solution to sport across the region against the backdrop of a broader international sports agenda.
