title = "Effects of tapering the near-field distribution of circularly polarised radial line slot array antennas",
abstract = "In this paper we investigated the effect of tapering the electric near-field distributions of circularly polarised radial line slot array (CP-RLSA) antennas. Two CP-RLSA antennas were designed; the first one has a tapered amplitude distribution and the second one has a uniform amplitude distribution. Each of the antennas has several thousands of radiating slots on the top surface. The two field distributions were obtained by manipulating the slot lengths based on a slot coupling analysis. The RLSA antenna with a nearly uniform amplitude distribution has a gain of 34.5 dBic and 3-dB gain bandwidth of 8%, whereas the RLSA with the tapered amplitude distribution has a lower sidelobe level of -26 dB.",
