Abstract
Note: I wrote 'El Dorado (after) life' after reading Joan Didion’s essay 'John Wayne: A Love Song' (1993). I grew up watching Western movies on a black & white TV in South Perth in the 1960s. My title references the 1966 American Technicolour film produced and directed by Howard Hawks and starring John Wayne, as well as the poem Eldorado (1849) by Edgar Allen Poe, a narrative told in four sestets.
