Abstract
This article first assesses the international spread of feminist research in geography and gives examples of the ways in which its presence might have been influenced by national and international political economies, national cultural values, the structure of systems of higher education, and trends in the discipline of geography. It then draws on this same framework to explore and interpret differences in the orientations in feminist geography in several countries. Finally, it notes some themes which feminist geography has generally neglected in all countries. The article is intended to stimulate reflection, and does not claim to offer definitive interpretations. -from English summary
