Abstract

Propagation of the electromagnetic waves in media with electromagnetic properties varying along the direction of the propagation presents interesting features, like the presence of pass/stop bands. Here a single layer microstrip structure is considered, where the width of the line is varied in order to obtain a sinusoidally modulated value of the effective dielectric constant. Continuous and discrete line configurations are considered, and the performances with respect to the uniform case are compared.
