    Abstract

The Hubbard-Onsager electrohydrodynamic model is extended to examine the influence of electrostriction on the mobilities of large ions in compressible polar solvents. We find that electrostriction leads to significant augmentation of the drag coefficients of large ions in aprotic solvents such as acetonitrile and acetone.
