Abstract

Enhanced Faraday and Kerr rotation in magnetic garnet gratings with defects for photonic integration has always been the interest of many studies. Here a coupled mode equation (CME) description and exact matrix calculations is used to investigate the relation between rotation and output intensity. The method is appropriate for the placement of defects permits simultaneous optimization of both the rotation and intensity.
