Abstract

The properties of geometric entropy and its relation to thermodynamics were discussed. It was found that the renormalization of entropy and energy for reduced density matrices led to the negative free energy, even if no boundary conditions were imposed. It was also observed that the geometric entropy in quantum field theory was not a Lorentz scalar and had no invariant meaning, while black hole entropy was invariant. It was also observed that in Minkowski spacetime entropy of a reduced density matrix was not an invariant, and thus the entanglement between different degrees of freedom and their effective numbers were observed dependent.
