Abstract
In this paper, we study existing available bandwidth measurement methods for IPv4 networks and investigate capabilities of IPv6 networks. Then we present a novel method to estimate available bandwidth in IPv6 networks, which is accurate, efficient, quick and really non-intrusive, thus it can be applied to many real-time applications. Finally, we evaluate our method in controlled and reproducible environment using NS2 and compare its performance with current methodologies, such as packet pair technique, packet train technique and SLoPS.
