Abstract
Constituencies for the British Parliament are redrawn at least once every fifteen years; those for British members of the European Assembly must then be redrawn as a consequence. Both redistricting exercises are done manually, using a series of vague guidelines laid down in the relevant Acts of Parliament. This paper illustrates the use of a computer-based information-processing system that could speed up part of the procedure, using as its example the definition of four European Assembly constituencies for Wales. -Author
