Abstract

Nanoparticles made of lanthanide oxides are promising fluoropores for applications as new tags in biochemistry because of their large Stokes shift, sharp emission spectra, long lifetime and lack of photobleaching. We report on the optical properties of Europium and Samarium doped Gd2O 3 synthesised by the flame pyrolysis method with specific emphasis on full spectral characterisation and fluorescence kinetics.
