Abstract

The excited state dynamics of jet-cooled 3-hydroxyflavone and its methanol complexes have been studied using both time-resolved dynamic measurements and excitation and emission spectroscopy. Methanol complexation has a significant effect on the molecule's emission spectrum and fluorescent lifetime, and both emissions in the green (tautomer) and blue are observed simultaneously under certain complexing conditions. The tautomer emission increases in lifetime from 150 ps for the molecule to 15 ns in the methanol complexes, which emit in the green.
