Abstract
Chitinozoans have been extracted from surface outcrops of limestones in deeply weathered terrains so chitinozoan faunas from Australian Devonian carbonate successions, tightly tied to conodont biostratigraphy, provide possibilities for generating a dual zonation with the potential for defining brief time intervals. This has already proven to have regional value. The environmental electroscan (E-SEM), not previously used for chitinozoans, obviates the necessity for high vacua and gold-coating and should reduce vesicle implosion/explosion. -from Author
