Abstract
A finite-element method is described for the analysis of leaky modes of open uniform waveguides with arbitrary cross-section. The field is represented by a hybrid element in the infinite exterior region, and by conventional triangular elements inside and near the waveguide. Results are presented for channel waveguide, slotted square guide and slotted circular waveguide.
