Abstract
The formation of a large-scale density packed Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) monolayer of alkanethiol-encapsulated gold particles was investigated. The fabrication of the large-scale monolayer of gold particles on hydrogen-terminated silicon surface was carried out by LB technique. The LB monolayer was demonstrated to be composed of ordered close-packed domain encapsulated gold particles by scanning electron microscopy. The domain of the ordered particle array resulted due to a self-organization process induced by the solvent evaporation of the LB spreading suspension.
