N2 - In this chapter, the personal journey of the author in many countries, including Italy, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United States, Canada, and Australia, is summarized, aimed to merge different translational fields (such as neurosurgery and the clinical neurosciences in general, biomedical engineering, mathematics, computer science, and cognitive sciences) and lay the foundations of a new field defined computational neurosurgery, with fractals, pattern recognition, memetics, and artificial intelligence as the common key words of the journey.
