From greetings to meetings: how infant peers welcome and accommodate a newcomer into their group

    Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

    Abstract

In this article, I describe how an eight-month-old infant was welcomed and incorporated into the group peer life within the nursery. With a backdrop of evidence demonstrating the significance of early relationships for children's development and wellbeing (see Hay, Payne, & Chadwick, 2004, for a review), the aim is to highlight the social capabilities of infants as well as the efforts that very young children make in order to include others into their social world.
