Abstract

The first decades of the 21st century saw the development of new technologies that hold great promise for the provision of efficient and affordable financial services to far more users than ever before. Criminals, however, have also seized the opportunities that these innovations provide. Service providers, regulators, supervisors and law enforcement must adapt and respond appropriately to the challenges presented by advances in financial technology.
