Abstract

A cladding-pumped, gain-switched Er3+:Pr3+-codoped ZBLAN fiber lasing using the 4I15/2-4I9/2 790-nm pumping scheme is presented. The temporal output of the fiber laser is characterized by a series of relaxation oscillations at a wavelength of 2700 nm that terminate at a time coincidence with the onset of lower intensity lasing at a longer wavelength of 2770 nm.
