Abstract

A cladding-pumped, gain-switched Er³⁺:Pr³⁺-codoped ZBLAN fiber lasing using the ⁴I_15/2-⁴I_9/2 790-nm pumping scheme is presented. The temporal output of the fiber laser is characterized by a series of relaxation oscillations at a wavelength of 2700 nm that terminate at a time coincidence with the onset of lower intensity lasing at a longer wavelength of 2770 nm.
