Abstract
Mean levels of major and trace elements, including the platinoids, are given in the main types of Konder massif ultramafites. There is a marked difference in the levels of the platinum-group elements and in those of certain incompatible elements between the chromitites, dunites, and olivinites on the one hand and the clinopyroxenites and melanocratic gabbroids on the other: the first contain platinoids to a level almost an order of magnitude larger than the second, while they resemble mantle peridotites in being depleted in incompatible elements, whereas the second are relatively enriched in them. The Konder ultramafic rocks are compared briefly with the related ultramafites in other massifs. -Journal summary
