Abstract
The economic reform process promoted by Deng during the past two decades has caused several significant changes in the economic geography of China. This paper is focused on the territorial consequences of the gradual decentralization of the economy according to a very particular perspective, the one offered by several Chinese geographers. The territorial effects of the Special Economic Zones as well as some theoretical approaches developed by Chinese geographers are, finally, analized.
